The Natura Contemporary Theatre Company is a small professional touring theatre company based in North Gloucestershire. NCT subsumed the Writers’ and Directors’ Workshop in 2018. Its Artistic Director and Resident Playwright is Caroline Summerfield. As a company we are dedicated to producing new writing for the stage and radio. We are a writers’ theatre placing the writers’ work a the centre of our productions. Our innovative approach is to bring the urban to the rural and the rural to the urban.
In recognition of the quality of our work and productions, we have consistently been awarded National Lottery Projects Funding from Arts Council England in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
In response to COVID-19 we have been working since 2019 with Birmingham’s leading independent internet radio broadcasting station, BHBN, to bring radio drama to NHS patients and staff, and the residents of our care homes.
To bring plays which celebrate new writing and professionalism in the theatre to audiences in the South West, the Midlands and London and the South East;
To bring the urban to the rural and the rural to the urban;
To bring multicultural well-written and thought provoking plays to our audience;
To bring theatre to theatres and non-theatre spaces; and
To bring theatre to you, whoever you are.
